Grameen Foundation : What we do : Knowledge Sharing
Knowledge Sharing
Our programs often provide opportunities for industry-wide progress and increased impact. Through our publication series, we share new strategies for making microfinance work better. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), we also work to expand microfinance's reach by translating important works into Arabic.
Spanning such diverse areas as the role of capital markets in microfinance, telecommunications for the rural poor, and post-tsunami disaster recovery, our publication series provides a wealth of information on key issues affecting MFIs and the wider industry. Among our many publications are the Village Phone Replication Manual, Measuring the Impact of Microfinance, and Recovery from the Tsunami Disaster.
In the Middle East and North Africa, practitioners are hampered by their inability to get core microfinance publications in Arabic. The Grameen-Jameel Initiative is meeting this need through its translation project. Since 2003, it has translated over 60 seminal works, including Pathways out of Poverty, The Grameen Reader, and Tapping the Financial Markets for Microfinance.
We also offer a unique opportunity for many microfinance supporters to discuss key issues with microfinance practitioners each year at the Grameen Foundation Knowledge Sharing Roundtable. This intimate discussion allows front line MFI practitioners and others to share their experiences and success strategies. The roundtable is held in conjunction with the Grameen Foundation Annual Practitioner Awards event.
